If you didn’t know I am a Canon guy. I use Canon’s exclusively for my photography, and I also use them exclusively for wedding videography. However, I have not been able to use all the great lenses I have in my photography arsenal. That is until now. The new Canon EOS 5D MKII have finally been announced. Whats ho special about this camera you ask? How bout the fact that it shoots video. Further more it shoots video at 1080p.

Canon most likely announced this camera to combat the Nikon D90, which also shoots video. The 5D captures HD video at a resolution 1920 x 1080 video at up to 30fps, and the new, higher ISO setting — 25,600 (this is in an extended mode. The maximum in normal mode is 6400).

I cant wait to see some test images come out so I can see for myself how it looks. I am also curious how quickly a memory car will fill up.What I would most likely use it for is close up shots, the type of shots when the depth of field I will get from an SLR would be amazing.

Canon has equipped the EOS 5D Mark II with two Silent Shooting modes in Live View which will prove particularly helpful to law enforcement officials, and for behind-the-scenes shooting on movie sets.

Canon EOS 5D MKII should be available soon at a price tag of $2,700 body only. What do you think. Is this camera worth buying for my wedding videography?

Key Specifications:

New 21.1 Megapixel CMOS sensor with improved EOS Integrated Cleaning System (E.I.C.S.)

New Full HD 1080 resolution movie recording

3.9 frames per second continuous shooting

High performance DIGIC 4 providing superb image quality

Maximum 310 large JPEG images in a single burst with a UDMA card

3.0″ VGA (920k dots) Clear View LCD

I usually don’t post about reviews other people have done, however I feel the review from Izzy Video on the Sony XDCAM EX is one to share. If you read my previous post you know that I am a big fan of Canon products. I have almost all Canon equipment. However I do know many “prosumers” swear by Sony’s camera lineup.

I am currently deciding which HD camera to bring home. I am strongly looking at the Canon XH G1, or the XH A1, but this Sony XDCAM ES. Izzy Video is a great place for reviews and knowledge surrounding videography. I subscribe to his podcast and never miss a show. This review discusses all of the features that the Sony XDCAM ES has. You can find his review below:

My new camcorder is the Sony XDCAM EX. Although this seems to be what everyone’s calling it, the actual model number is Sony PMW-EX1. In this installment of Izzy Video, I give a miniature video review of the new camera.

If you haven’t heard of this camera before, I should let you know that it’s pretty revolutionary.
